2 Timothy 2:19-21 19Nevertheless, God’s solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: “The Lord knows those who are his”, and, “Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from (iniquity) wickedness.”
Verse 19- Foundation for all prosperity and success “Depart from iniquity (wickedness).” And you will prosper in every area… the foundation will be placed.
Sin will cause problems in your prosperity and your relationships. Sin will rob and corrupt your confidence. No confidence, no faith. The devil does not want you to walk around like a confident Christian.
How does sin rob your faith?
Sanctification – instead of safe sex, SAVE sex. The world says it’s ok to have sex, but the Word of God has not changed.
1 Corinthians 3:16 – 16Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you? 17If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him; for God’s temple is sacred, and you are that temple.
1 Corinthians 6:13 – 3“Food for the stomach and the stomach for food”—but God will destroy them both. The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. 15Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ himself? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never! 16DO YOU NOT KNOW that he who unites himself with a prostitute is ONE WITH HER in body? For it is said, “The two will become one flesh.” 17But he who unites himself with the Lord is one with him in spirit. 18FLEE from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body. 19Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.
There is a warning for those who unite in sexual immorality. You do not know what demons the strange woman carries. You only know what she tells (sells) you. When 2 houses unite, the spirits can move freely within those 2 houses. This makes you extremely vulnerable to satanic attack and influence. You can apply the blood of Jesus and pray all you want, but so long as that door is open for the enemy, it will do you no good. We must not just turn away, but flee from sexual immorality.
The body is not for sexual immorality. You are not invincible. Condoms will not protect you from spiritually or emotionally transmitted diseases (demons) or pornography. Sexual immorality includes but is not limited to: fornication, adultery, pornography, masturbation, lusting over a woman.
What makes sexual immorality so enticing?
1 Thessalonians 4 3 For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality; 4 that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, 5 not in passion of lust, like the Gentiles (The World) who do not know God; 6 that no one should take advantage of and defraud his brother in this matter, because the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also forewarned you and testified. 7 For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness. 8 Therefore he who rejects this does not reject man, but God, who has also given us His Holy Spirit.
How are we supposed to possess our own vessel?
The will of God is for us to abstain from fornication. God created sex as something good, but Satan has perverted it. This has led to much confusion in sexuality and relationships. What people call making “love” is really making “lust”. The very definition of love (which by definition is God) has been greatly distorted and perverted into something else. Young adults think they are in love, but it’s really just a superficial attraction.
How do we discern whether its love or lust?
The Crafty Harlot
Proverbs 7 6 For at the window of my house I looked through my lattice, 7 And saw among the simple, I perceived among the youths, A young man devoid of understanding, 8 Passing along the street near her corner; And he took the path to her house 9 In the twilight, in the evening, In the black and dark night. 10 And there a woman met him, With the attire of a harlot, and a crafty heart. 11 She was loud and rebellious, Her feet would not stay at home. 12 At times she was outside, at times in the open square, Lurking at every corner.
13 So she caught him and kissed him; With an impudent face she said to him: 14 “I have peace offerings with me; Today I have paid my vows. 15 So I came out to meet you, Diligently to seek your face, And I have found you. 16 I have spread my bed with tapestry, Colored coverings of Egyptian linen. 17 I have perfumed my bed With myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon. 18 Come, let us take our fill of love until morning; Let us delight ourselves with love. 19 For my husband is not at home; He has gone on a long journey; 20 He has taken a bag of money with him, And will come home on the appointed day.” 21 With her enticing speech she caused him to yield, With her flattering lips she seduced him. 22 Immediately he went after her, as an ox goes to the slaughter, Or as a fool to the correction of the stocks, 23 Till an arrow struck his liver. As a bird hastens to the snare, He did not know it would cost his life. 24 Now therefore, listen to me, my children; Pay attention to the words of my mouth: 25 Do not let your heart turn aside to her ways, Do not stray into her paths; 26 For she has cast down many wounded, And all who were slain by her were strong men. 27 Her house is the way to hell, Descending to the chambers of death.
The wages of sin is death. Sexual immorality is the way to hell, descending to the chambers of death. If not corrected it can cause you to separate from God.
In what ways do men in the world deal with their sex drive?
It’s normal for a man to desire sex. God designed us that way. However, he also designed a pattern for us to live by in order for those desires to produce in our lives, not lead us to death. There is only one solution to fulfil this desire, and it is found only in marriage.
1 Corinthians 7- (NKJV) 7 Now concerning the things of which you wrote to me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman. 2 Nevertheless, because of sexual immorality, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband. 3 Let the husband render to his wife the affection due her, and likewise also the wife to her husband. 4 The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. And likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does. 5 Do not deprive one another except with consent for a time, that you may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again so that Satan does not tempt you because of your lack of self-control. 6 But I say this as a concession, not as a commandment. 7 For I wish that all men were even as I myself. But each one has his own gift from God, one in this manner and another in that. 8 But I say to the unmarried and to the widows: It is good for them if they remain even as I am; 9 but if they cannot exercise self-control, let them marry. For it is better to marry than to burn with passion.
Paul here is saying that he was able to stay single because he had a gift from God. What gift do you think that was?
